Revision of tenancy agreements to end bans on pets for tenants

It has been announced by the government an overhaul of the model tenancy contracts and called on landlords to make it easier for tenants to have pets in their home.

The government will revise the model tenancy contracts to remove restrictions on ‘well behaved’ pets, to ensure more landlords are catering for responsible pet owners wherever possible.

The government has stated that total ban on renters with pets should only be implemented where there is good reason to do so, such as in smaller properties or flats in which having a pet could be impractical.
